Why through SBI?

There is no district in India where SBI does not have a branch, about 10,000 branches all over the country. Our wide network ensures smooth, speedy transfer of money at affordable cost .

Please visit our branch and open a Current Account upon submission / production of the following documents / items : -

i)   Alien Registration Card

ii) Passport-with valid visa 

You may also go for our Remittance Registration Scheme without opening a Current Account.  For this purpose, you will be required to apply on the stipulated application form and submit the copies of Passport (with valid visa), Alien Registration Card  and an indemnity letter for fax transactions. Originals of Passport and Alien Card are required to be produced for verification and a Remittance Registration Card will be issued to you with a unique Registration Number. You can avail of our remittance services by quoting this registration number.

Upon opening the Current Account or after obtaining our Remittance Registration Card, just  transfer the money to our (State Bank of India) account with Mizuho Bank, Ginza branch by 12.00 noon (Current Account No 0117640).The remittance details can be sent by fax  to us on the stipulated format  at Fax No 3201-5750 or through Internet Banking platform, if you are a registered user. When you want to remit in USD/ INR, please confirm  the Exchange Rate in advance from our Remittance section (Tel No 03- 3284 -0198). Also please enquire from us the name of branch in case of USD/ JPY remittance, since some selected branches are only authorized to handle such remittance.

*Please note that both incoming and outgoing Remittance in Japan is governed by Article 3 of the “Law on reporting requirements on cross border payments and receipts for the tax law compliance”. As such you will be required to submit information to the Bank including the Name and  address of the remitter and payee and Purpose of remittance, etc.
